Garage Floor Concrete Repair Challenge
The garage floor in this home in a Minneapolis suburb was poured in 1991. The problem was the concrete was not flat and the entrance edge had a high spot. Water would not drain and would pool in the low spots. The challenge was how to get flat and taper the entrance edge and waterproof the surface.
The Solution – Concrete Repair & Waterproofing
Rock Solid Surfacing has made considerable investment in the proper equipment over the years and modified the machines for improved performance.
First they grind down the entrance edge and taper for water run-off and fix the cracks like in the image above. Rock Solid has made a science of cracks and how to repair them, a common garage floor issue. Moisture typically permeates cracks. In this case water was entering the crack from above and rising moisture vapor from below. Rock Solid has developed a proprietary system for removing moisture in the walls of the concrete crack. The walls of the concrete in a crack are extremely porous absorbing water like a sponge. Rock Solid uses a polyurea which is activated by moisture becoming part of the concrete with added flexability. Seldom do they get call backs.
Prior to fixing the cracks they grind the entire surface to a smooth level finish. This process of the garage floor concrete repair removes grease, oil and other contaminents and prevents low spots where water can pool. Any additional cracks which may have not been visible are now exposed and properly fixed.
The final step is resurfacing with Espartic Polyurea, a garage floor coating that is applied on high traffic industrial floors as well.. The polyaspartic floor coating also works as a waterproofing and mositure block as well as a durable, decorative, easy to clean non slip surface that will not delaminate.
