After Etching Concrete with Gel Acid

Today I just launched a new site called www.etchingconcrete.com. The purpose of the site is to explain the benefits of a patented Gel Acid for cleaning and etching concrete surfaces.

For those who are not familiar with gel acid it is a hydrochloric acid contained in a gel. It is ideal for surface preparation prior to application of garage floor paint, epoxies and various coatings.

It’s really easy to apply. Just pour the gel in a paint tray and roll the gel on the surface with a 3/8 – 1/2 inch nap roller. The beauty of using a gelled acid over liquid is that you can control where the product is applied and the quantity.

As a cleaner it is exceptional. It pulls rust, mold and algae out of a concrete surface. Look at the photo above of an exterior slab at Harborview Marina and Yacht Club in Baltimore Maryland. The surface had over 25 years of buildup without a solution for cleaning. Using a gelled acid they were finally able to clean the surface like new. They applied concrete sealers once the slab was cleaned to prevent the surface from getting dirty again.
