Surface Gel Teks Gelled Acids are an ideal product for cleaning mildew from concrete surfaces. They solve significant problem that a typical liquid acid cannot provide. Acid has long been known to be the most effective product for cleaning not only mold and algae but also rust stains and oils from concrete surfaces.

The problem is that liquid acids are very difficult to control. They need to be diluted with water and lack an effective application method. Liquid acid is like trying to work a hammer without a handle. Gels are to acid what a handle is to a hammer . They make the acid work.

If you have mildew on your concrete surface which has built up over the years on a patio, stairs or sidewalk you can simply pour the gelled acid into a paint tray and roll on the surface just like paint. Let the acids sit for about 15 minutes until they neutralize and wash off the surface.

The acid pulls the mildew, mold and algae out of the concrete and is contained in the gel. The gel works as a carrier. They come in two strengths. HD24 is 24% acid and the HD stands for heavy duty. HD 24 also will profile a sidewalk creating a non slip surface and is very effective as a concrete etching product prior to applying epoxy coatings. The other is Tek Gel for profiling which is 20% acid. Both are ASTM certified .

This is a Minneapolis garage floor restoration project completed in Minneapolis.

The first photo in the upper left of the gallery below is a side view of a 4 inch thick cracked concrete slab. The yellow areas point to the crack filler that flowed to the bottom. If you or your contractor fills the crack with an epoxy or crack filler that is too thick it won’t flow to the bottom. For the crack repair to work permanently, the filler must flow to the bottom and have the ability to cure without air flow and react positively to moisture. If not it will sit in there wet and mushy. Moisture vapor will eventually push it out of the way and adversely affect your coating.

Concrete floors can be repaired despite what you may hear. In this project the decomposing concrete was chipped out and all the flaws and filled with a polyurea that absorbs into the concrete. This becomes a permanent fix. Then the floor is ground to a smooth level surface. They make sure to remove all the high spots and sand the repairs to a smooth surface. This prevents any blend through the final coating.

As you can see this Minneapolis garage floor came out perfect, lasting years with simple maintenance. For more information visit www.gfonecoatings.com

Thousands of Minneapolis garage floor concrete surfaces have been built over basements. If you look at the top photo here you can see Spancrete being installed. A typical Spancrete panel is 24-3o inches wide, 6 inches thick and 24 feet long.

Each panel is butted up against the other. Then concrete is poured over the top during construction, usually about 4 inches thick. When the home settles or when a car is parked in the garage the concrete over the Spancrete cracks lengthwise. In the photo above you can see the cracks follow exactly where the Spancrete butts up against the other.

When water gets in your garage, it leaks into your basement through the cracks. The best solution is a system that fills the cracks, waterproofs your floor and coats with a non slip, polyaspartic polyurea decorative finish.

One of the leading causes of injuries in workplaces are slip and fall accidents. This is an important consideration with a concrete garage floor coating. If the coefficiency of friction (slip resistance) wears away your floor will get slippery when it gets wet.

Joe Sheehan and the G-F One Coatings team has solved the problem through years of trail and error. What Joe found is that when non slip particles are added to a coating, like sprinkling salt on a steak, the particles wear or get knocked out. Depending on the application, a floor will become slippery within a year.

The solution is to mix non slip particles in the polyaspartic coating during the mixing process, then roll the coating on the floor. What Joe discovered was large particles drop to the bottom of the bucket and may never even make it to the floor. Or, if they do, they are inconsistent. Particles that are to small, mix well, but don’t provide slip resistance.

Joe found the right size and the right amount to mix. Then he found that if added to each coating layer the coefficiency of friction never reduced with floor wear. The particles never wore out since they were imbedded in layers of the coatings. So if you are considering a non slip surface for your Minneapolis concrete garage floor give Joe Sheehan a call at 651-748-5999 or visit the website www.gfonecoatings.com

Nice! A full chip decorative concrete garage floor installed at a residence in Davie Florida with the Harley logo imbedded.

The garage floor coating is the GF1 polyaspartic system. They grind the concrete floor smooth, fix all the cracks then apply the coating. The custom logo can be any size and shape. In this case about 4 feet wide by 2 1/2 feet high. The logos are a special material with pinholes that enables the polyaspartic to flow through locking the artwork in place permanently.

The owner of the Davie Florida residence wanted a full decorative chip system on the garage floor which is available in numerous colors. The final system is smooth, clean, low maintenance and looks awesome. The chip system also adds a non slip feature. One of the features of the system is the quick cure time of polyaspartic garage floor coatings. Many floors like the one featured here can be completed in one day.

Joe Sheehan has defined the term “The Minneapolis Garage Floor”. The harsh winter conditions, excessive ground moisture, de-icing salts, freeze thaw issues have plagued Minneapolis property owners since they started pouring concrete.

The garage floor in Minneapolis has been the ultimate testing ground for Joe Sheehan’s polyaspartic concrete coating system and testimony to the high performance of “Pure Bred” polyaspartics.

What is The Minneapolis garage Floor system? (Visit GF One Coatings for more information)

Surface Prep - Your concrete floor is ground to a smooth level surface. The grinding process removes all the high and low spots, removes all impurities, opens up all cracks and pores of the concrete. In effect a brand new surface.

Concrete and Crack Repair – Any deteriorating concrete is cleaned free of loose, spalling concrete, Cracks are filled to the bottom of the crack with a polyurea that whets or soaks into the concrete to fill and seal the crack as opposed to a crack filler that is stuck in a crack and doesn’t dry. Most crack fillers don’t work,. They don’t have the ability to cure below the surface.

Waterproofing – The first coat of polyaspartic whets or soaks into your concrete as opposed to just sticking to the surface. When the first coat dries it becomes part of the floor. Moisture vapor from below, salts, chemicals and hot tires from above are impervious to polyaspartic garage floor coatings.

Final Coat - This is the thickest and most expensive coat. This is what protects from excessive wear and tear from hot tires, forklifts and foot traffic. It also provides a slip resistance that exceeds slip and fall legal levels.

Maintenance – Simple to clean, does not yellow from UV rays. Looks great for years with regular simple maintenance.

Warranty – The only coating with a long-term multi-year guarantee.

Price - The Minneapolis Garage Floor performs for years without failure. Long -term performance means cost efficiency over time. Initial cost is similar to other coatings but long term performance means it beats cheap and inexpensive first cost coatings.
