Visit www.gfonecoatings.com for more information about GF One Coatings of Minnesota.

During the past six months I spent a lot of time learning about Polyaspartic floor coatings from Joe Sheehan. Joe is based in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.

Polyaspartic Floor Coatings are a two component product that when mixed and applied to concrete floors creates the highest quality finish on concrete today. A lot of epoxy professionals will get steaming hot mad at me for saying this but polyasrtic floor coatings blow the doors off epoxies.

However not all polyaspaics are the same. Joe is a partner in One Day Floors who has worked with the master blender to develop the highest quality polyaspartic on the market. It’s not just the polyaspatic that works but the unique combination of concrete surface preparation and application of the poly.

Joe along with Steve Conklin a distributor of One Day Floors Polyaspartic Floor Coatings in Colorado and owner of Garage Dekor have developed a state of the art surface prep system. They took the best of numerous floor grinding machines and diamond blades to come up with their own proprietary surface prep system. The system is fast and effective. It enables One Day Floor applicators to provide a unique product for their clients.

The reason surface prep is critical is that Polyaspartic Floor Coatings will absorb into the concrete when proper grinding opens up the pores. This enables the poly to harden as part of the concrete rather than sticking to the surface. It will not delaminate like epoxies. It also doesn’t collect dirt and yellow like epoxy coatings.

The photos above are of a 10,000 square foot floor that was completed in 3 days. The owner an auto collector was able to drive on the floor the fourth day. Depending on the size of the floor and challenge with surface prep floors can be completed in one day and driven on the next even with fork lifts.

Polyaspartic Floor Coatings are the ultimate industrial application but are highly decorative and ideal for retail stores and restaurants.

One Day Floors Polyaspartic Floor Systems are available nationwide for any size floors from 500 square foot garages to 500,000 square foot aircraft hangars and everything in between.

In addition to being a manufacturer of “Green” concrete coatings for walls and floors PermaCrete epoxy warehouse floor coatings are one of their prime products.

As you can see by the above photo of the Charlotte Motor Speedway building, the epoxies come in lots of colors and unlimited designs. The two component epoxies are 100% solids and will resist acids, oil, solvents with high compressive strength. They are ideal for auto and forklift traffic for warehouse and garage floor use.

Epoxy warehouse floor coatings have a high shine finish. In addition to the durablity when applied in light gray colors the enhanced light reflectivity will reduce your electric lighting costs. I’m not aware of any research that proves this point but I’ll bet that a warehouse floor with a light color epoxy will pay for itself with reduced electric and maintenance costs.

I have been told by companies that finally broke down and had epoxies applied that the improved lighting and reduced maintenance has improved employee moral and increased productivity.

In residential garages the improved performance creates a caring attitude resulting in an organized space rather than a cluttered mess.

Permacrete has 1,200 trained experts nationwide skilled in applying epoxy warehouse floor coatings and surface prep using Surface Gel Tek gelled acids for etching the floor or shotblasting the surface. Shotblasting usually runs $1.00 – $2.00 per square foot including labor. Shotblasters shoot small ball bearing at the floor at a high velocity and are quickly and easily cleaned with a magnetized floor sweeper.

Surface Gel Tek has a gelled acid called HD 24 which is rolled on and washed off the floor. HD 24 is highly effective for etching and cleaning a concrete floor. Cost is about 18 cents per square foot plus cost of labor.
