The dog kennel floor featured here was a do it yourself concrete floor coating that delaminated within 6 months of application. Based in the Vermont area, the owner applied an industrial, name brand epoxy.

The reason for the dog kennel floor epoxy coating failure was due to a few reasons. One is that the floor was not properly prepared. Any coating will delaminate if the floor is not mechanically profiled. The second is in the Vermont area ground moisture and salts inherent in concrete are pushed to the surface via hydrostatic pressure. Few coatings have the ability to withstand the chemical breakdown caused by moisture and salts.
