Donner Louisiana Decorative Concrete
In this project Mike Hollahan owner of Custom Stone Concrete used a decorative concrete overlay system and a bit of creativity to restore a concrete patio in Donner Louisiana.
The concrete was in bad shape with lots of cracks, old tile and an area that had been used for plants the owner wanted filled in. That presented an economical challenge. How to create a new surface without an expensive and time consuming construction project. Plus the added challenge of matching with the adjacent pool deck.
The solution was to fill in the circular planter area with new concrete, remove the old tile and fix all the cracks with an epoxy filler. Once that was complete the next step was to resurface with a decorative concrete overlay. Utilizing creative artistry Mike designed a circular pattern where the planter was complete with a pineapple design in the center.
Repairing Cracks
Along the edges a decorative concrete brick pattern was created to blend in with the edges and pool deck for a natural look while drawing the eye away from the expansion joint between the patio and pool deck. Joint lines were added to the decorative concrete overlay creating the look of large tile.
The Donner Louisiana patio was complete. Natural look, blending in with the pool deck and expansion joints for a fraction of the cost and time of a major construction alternative. This is the beauty of decorative concrete. A highly durable, functional and value added decorative solution that will last years.
